Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located in Rio Rancho, NM. Many of our players are in the Sunset Little League district.
What is the game time commitment to be a club baseball family?
If you are new to club baseball, it can seem like a lot at first! The Goatheads prioritize family first in everything we do, and balance a families and kids desire to play a game they love in a more competitive environment. In the fall of 2023, our two teams played about 33 games each, which included 16 regular season games and the rest coming during tournament play. For teams 12U and younger, most games are double headers on Sundays in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area. The tournaments are usually Saturdays and Sundays, but sometimes include a Friday or a Monday, making them 3 day tournaments.
How often do you practice?
We don’t have a dedicated facility to practice in, so we mostly use fields at or near Sunset Little League. Many of our kids also play Little League, which we encourage, so we are flexible to work around their practice and game schedules. In the off season, we focus a lot on our throwing and hitting programs, teaching good habits and repeatable drills that carry over into the season.
How much is it?
We pass on the charges from the league directly to you, taking no salary for any coach or person helping. We are a 100% volunteer organization. We add on a small amount for administrative costs, like practice baseballs, payment processing. We anticipate the costs for Spring 2024 to be around $750 per player. That includes all games, tournaments, two uniform jerseys and one hat. We allow it to be paid in three monthly payments.
How many teams do you have?
Currently (Fall 2024) we have 4 teams:
13U, 12U, 11U, 10U
